COVID-19: Coronavirus

The Coronavirus will have impacts on the health system for the weeks and months to come.

Please read this post carefully, even if you are not a current client of our clinic.

UPDATE ON 13 AUGUST 2020

Great news! We'll be back at work starting from Saturday, 15 August.

Of course, we'll be working to UK Government guidelines and your safety (and ours) will be our top concern - please contact us to arrange an appointment and to check our COVID-19 guidelines.

UPDATE ON 31 JULY 2020

We are extremely disappointed that a last-minute annoiuncement from the Prime Minister earlier today (31 July) means that we will not be able to open  the salon until 15 August at the earliest.

While we understand fully the need to prevent further spread of the COVID-19 virus it is frustrating for us and, even more so for our customers, to be subject to such change of guidance with so little notice.

We will, of course, comply with all Government guidelines and therefore look forward to welcoming our customers back starting, hopefully, from 15 August.

UPDATE ON 16 JULY 2020

Good news!

We have been given a date for when we will finally be able to reopen: 1st August 2020.

May we take this opportunity to thank you for your patience. We have been overwhelmed with how many clients have contacted us and we have tried to help where possible in these difficult times.

Our clinic is fully equipped with all the appropriate PPE and we have a new system in place to work under the new government guidelines.

Due to COVID-19 and the need for PPE we are asking all clients to bring their own face mask and attend their appointments on time and on their own. We are no longer able to provide a waiting area for friends and family.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be contacting all of you to get you booked in for your next appointments. We have missed you all, and cannot wait to catch up and get back to work.

UPDATE ON 22 MARCH 2020

Due to health reasons and the safety of ourselves and our clients we have had to make the decision to close the clinic for one month from (Monday 23rd March).

We have been advised by medical professionals that due the close proximity and duration of the time spent with each client, this puts us and you at a dangerously high risk of contracting the virus.

If you have an appointment booked soon with us we will be in contact to rearrange this.

We hope you all understand and apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

PREVIOUS ADVICE

There is currently (as of 18 March 2020) no official government advice for the hair and beauty industry; if this changes, we will update this page accordingly. Having performed an extensive audit of our processes here at Beauty Lodge, we will outline our own advice and procedures below.

We all have a role to play here.

I understand that some may be anxious about attending treatments, so I thought I would answer some questions you may have.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE?

What have we done, and are continually doing to combat the virus and keep clients safe?

We have a large stockpile of Antiseptic Wipes, Alcohol Based Sanitiser, Cleaning Products, and have put in place enhanced cleaning measures and processes.

The virus is most effectively combated by hand-washing with soap for 20 seconds and frequent cleaning of surfaces, so you should add this to your routine immediately, as we always have done and will continue to do.

The virus is surrounded by a layer of fat, and breaks down with soap, detergents and alcohol-based solutions.

We have removed all but essential treatment items off our shelves, so that more efficient cleaning can occur on a more frequent basis.

I AM UNSURE IF I SHOULD ATTEND MY APPOINTMENT

We ask you to be upfront and honest about your travel history, and potential exposure, to ensure that all staff and patients (especially our elderly and immuno-compromised patients) remain healthy.

This does not mean that you will be unable to be treated, it just means that everyone is aware of any precautions that may need to be taken, including treatment positioning (i.e. treating you face down instead of face up), or techniques used.

If you have travelled Overseas in the past 14 days, AND you are exhibiting flu-like symptoms (cough, fever, excessive runny nose, shortness of breath) – please do not attend your appointment. Please seek medical advice which may include getting tested for COVID-19.

If you have just arrived back from travelling overseas ANYWHERE, it is now mandatory that you self-quarantine for 14 days. If you have had known close contact with a person with COVID-19, do not attend your appointment. Please self-isolate for 14 days as per Advice.

If you have arrived from overseas in the past 14 days, but are NOT showing symptoms, please advise us via telephone before you arrive at our clinic.

If in doubt about anything, please call.

If you are not a returned traveller, nor had contact with COVID-19, the current advice is that you are safe unless you have any of the symptoms. Person-to-person transmission in the community 1 to 1 is not yet posing an issue, but this could change rapidly so keep updated with current Health and Government advice.

We will do the same and update you accordingly, as best we can.

If you are feeling unwell in any way, please contact us for advice about whether you should attend your appointment. If you have a fever, cough, excessive runny nose or shortness of breath, then you will be advised to not attend your appointment.
