What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is a series of pure hyaluronic acid injections, which hydrate the skin and trigger collagen and elastin production. Through bio-remodelling the skin, Profhilo dramatically improves its quality and appearance reducing fine lines and hydrating the skin from the inside out. What makes Profhilo different from competing products is the high concentration of Hyaluronic acid, a key ingredient for producing healthier, radiant skin.

Top beauty editors have described Profhilo as the world's greatest moisturiser for the glowing skin it produces due to increased collagen levels. Dramatic Profhilo before and after photos reveal younger, brighter, and smoother skin.

Should you wish to book a free consultation or your first treatment please select from the options below and press BOOK. You will then be taken to a page where you can choose an appointment date and time. You will not be charged now - Sarah will discuss your exact requirements during your consultation and/or your first treatment appointment.

If you would like multiple treatments please choose your area of primary concern from the list below and then discuss your extra needs with Sarah at your first appointment.

Where can it be used?

The treatment process for the face involves injecting the product in 5 points on each side of the face. The formula disperses across the whole area. Profhilo is a bio-rejuvenator, bio-revitaliser, and tissue stimulator.

While Profhilo is not injected directly around the eye area, Profhilo under eyes treatment is one of our most requested places to treat. When injected lower down the face, Prohilo can dramatically smooth the eye area with less downtime than most under-eye laser treatments.

Our Beauty Lodge Profhilo treatment is for those looking for an overall improvement in skin quality or those wishing to treat crepey skin on the face and neck.

The Profhilo treatment also works very well to rejuvenate the back of the hands, making them look younger or smoother. The product can also tighten loose skin on the arms.

Is Profhilo a Dermal Filler?

Profhilo is not the same as a dermal filler.

Although both contain hyaluronic acid, Profhilo does not have the same thick viscosity as a dermal filler. In contrast, Profhilo is a water-like gel with a similar constancy to honey and injected in small amounts across the face. It spreads beneath your skin, stimulating collagen and elastin to improve skin tone, texture, and elasticity. The result is an overall more youthful, hydrated, glowing complexion.

Profhilo will enhance an entire area rather than fill one specific line or fold like a dermal filler. Profhilo can flow freely through the deep skin layers in a way that dermal fillers cannot, and it won't produce lumps and bumps. Profhilo is an excellent product for areas like the neck, hands, or arms where fillers are generally not used.

The Profhilo Treatment Journey

On the day of your consultation, Sarah will explain the treatment and advise if it is suitable for you. She will also recommend other treatments you may benefit from – often clients have Botox for the upper face and Profhilo for mid/lower face as Profhilo is not used on the upper face area.

Sarah will also recommend which skin care products will work best to enhance your Profhilo result.

Providing there are no contra-indications, you will be able to have your first Profhilo dose on the same day.

Numbing cream can be applied to your skin for 10-15 minutes before treatment if you would like (please request this on arrival at the clinic).

You will have a series of 5 injections on each side of the face, covering your mid and lower face.

You will not be treated on your forehead, nose, and under eyes – however, there will be a Profhilo under eyes result).

You will feel a stinging sensation on injection, and if you are concerned about the pain, we advise that as well as having the numbing cream you take two paracetamol tablets before your appointment providing you have no contra-indications.

Immediately after, there will be small lumps on the face where the Profhilo product has been injected; they will look like bee-stings and go down after around 30 minutes but can persist for up to 24 hours.

We advise you do not put any products (including makeup) over the area treated for at least 6 hours.

Sarah will give your aftercare advice and will book you for your second dose in 2 weeks.

You may start to see a gradual improvement in the skin over those four weeks, but it is usually not until the second dosethat you will see the best results.

Your QuestionsAnswered

Profhilo is an anti-ageing hydration treatment that helps boost hydration beneath the skin's surface and kickstart the natural production of collagen and elastin. It is suitable for anyone who would benefit from increased hydration, more collagen, or elastin. Typically clients are aged 30-55 and want to look younger and for their skin on their face, neck, hand, or arms to look better.

Profhilo is a rejuvenating treatment that can smooth fine lines, wrinkles, skin crepeiness and improve skin texture in the following areas:
  • Face
Neck
  •
Decolletage
  •
Arms (bingo-wings)
  •
Elbows

  • Hands
  •
Knees

  • Smokers lines and fine lines around the mouth
  •
Under-eye wrinkles
  •
Fine lines around the eyes

  • Wrinkly cheeks
  •
Crepey hands

  • Abdomen (stomach)

Your skin will look better hydrated almost immediately after treatment. The client won't see the collagen elastin's benefit until at least six weeks after your first treatment. The best results will appear 4-6 weeks after your second treatment.

To achieve the results, you will need 2 Profhilo treatments two weeks apart initially and then a top-up at six months to maintain the effect.

Profhilo was launched in Italy in February 2015, and it's been in use worldwide ever since. Over 300,000 patients have been treated so far, with no adverse reactions reported. Side effects (e.g., redness, pain, swelling) are mild and temporary. From a safety perspective, it is made from ultra-pure, natural hyaluronic acid and stabilised without chemical cross-linking agents; this reduces the risk of adverse reactions, so the downtime is minimal.
You can only undertake injectable procedures like Profhilo after you attend a face-to-face consultation with Sarah Thomas, who will discuss a full list of cautions and contra-indications.

  • No makeup for 6 hours after treatment

  • Refrain from any facials for two weeks

  • No heavy exercise for 24 hours after treatment

  • Be gentle when washing the filled area of your face, neck, chest, or hands

  • Try to avoid unnecessary touching of your face for the first 24 hours after treatment

No, not at all. Profhilo does not fill anything or restrict facial movements in any way. It is a very subtle, natural-looking result.
